Alexandra Barbot, Artist
Alexandra Barbot, a Haitian born Artist had the good fortune to study under a world renowned black artist, Master Roland Dorcely. Master Dorcely's paintings can be found in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris and in the Museum of Modern Art in new York, he was a protege of Picasso while he studied in Paris in the 1950s.
Following the footsteps of master Roland Dorcely, Alexandra Barbot has been showing her art in Germany where she lived 12 years and in  France in such prestigious places as the Petit Palais in Paris MOCA in Miami,the Mc. Court 
Museum in Montreal Canada, the Historic Capitol Museum in Talahassee. She has exhibited her work in Miami and worked in different well known nonprofit organizations in the Haitian Community.
Journalists such as Aubelin Jolicoeur a world famous Haitian Journalist have praised her work in numerous articles. She was featured in the French speaking magazine Amina in March 2006 in an interview with the Haitian Journalist, Louis Carl St. Jean.
She has a Master Degree in Law and co-published for the " Le club Economique Franco Bavarois" " Produckt Piraterie ein Wirtshaftliches Problem" while her love for the nature in her native country can be seen as well  as in her paintings, she also published work on the protection of the environment in Haiti.
Her main source of inspiration and the primary subjects of her paintings are the people and places in the Black experience traveling from Africa to the Carribean and the United States.Her medium are Acrylic and oil on canvas as well as on  scupltures and murals. Wheter she is painting a market woman or an upper class black Lady the central theme of her paintings reflects proud and confident people who are looking toward the future.
Her friend and mentor  the great Spanish Cubist Jesus Fuertes who was a protege of Picasso saw in her one of the best new Haitian Artists and encouraged her to remain in her roots and continue expressing herself in the bold colors she favors. Jesus Fuertes was a great individual an extraordinary artist and a loyal friend that resided like her in Brickel,Miami she met him in 2002 when she moved from Munich to Miami,  he invited her to his atelier . He past away june 19th of 2006 and his friendship and guidance are missed.An acomplished artist, the world renowned Fuertes directed the Bresilian Academy of Art for 15 years.
 Alexandra Barbot has donated her work to several Haitian and American non profit organization based in Miami, New York .She  as received an award  from the Mayor of North Miami,  Mr. Kevin Burns for her depiction of the Haitian Community in Miami notably the Caribean Market Place painting that adorn the cover of Mr.David Brown's book ''The story of little Haiti''. She has also done some book illustrations and co-written the book ''Mommy tell me about Haiti. ''and thecreole bilingual version " Manmy rakonte'm Haiti".She is currently working on different book projects as well.
